One Great Knitter
Write about a knitter whose work (whether because of project choice, photography, styling, scale of projects, stash, etc) you enjoy. If they have an enjoyable blog, you might find it a good opportunity to send a smile their way. knitcroblo3
Do I really only have to talk about one? Haha!
1. Ysolda Teague
I don't exactly remember how I found her blog, but I think I was surfing the internet for patterns (this was before I knew about Ravelry), and I found one of her patterns. I think it was Snow White. It was not so much the pattern itself that I was attracted to; it was her cute style, and the adorable-ness of her blog. I'll admit I also liked that she was Scottish and that her name was so cool. But once I browsed through the rest of her patterns, I bookmarked her blog and checked back daily. I think this was the first knitting blog that I was reading regularly. As time passed, Ysolda has written many patterns that I have fallen in love with. While I've only knit a handful of them, I admire all of them. I always learn something new when I knit an Ysolda pattern. They always have an originality and whimsy not seen in other patterns. She uses techniques that, while not always straightforward, are unusual to me and I enjoy the challenge. I also admire her from a business perspective. She's remained relatively independent, and has made a living for herself from her pattern sales. I wish I could do that.
2. Connie Chang Chinchio
I think she has to be my favorite designer of all. There has not been a pattern written that I have not loved. They have a casual style, but with a touch of lace or something else feminine, which I adore. She uses a lot of the same construction techniques, and so there's an element of predictability so you know you're knitting a Connie pattern. Sometimes I'm almost frustrated because Connie writes a lot of patterns, and everytime I check Ravelry, there's a new Connie pattern that I love and that I don't have time to make! Every single one of them I'd wear. That's saying a lot about a designer.
Ok, so I already broke the rules here by talking about more than one knitter, so I'll just list a few others with a quick one or two lines
3. Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. She's the freakin' Yarn Harlot! She rules! And her blog and books are hilarious.
4. Jared Flood. The photography alone is reason enough.
5. Susan B. Anderson. Cutest patterns ever!
Ok, I'll stop now. :P
