Sweet and Bitter Spring Surprise

Today I received my book from Ysolda! I ordered this from her blog. Isn't it darling!? I love Ysolda's patterns. They are careful, detailed, well written, pretty and fun to make. I nearly always learn a new technique when I make them. The knitted toys she has been designing of late have been just darling. Did I really say darling twice? I did. I wanted to say whimsical, but that's the title of her book! And they are whimsical!

It was also really neat to get this cute little package all the way from Scotland. And she signed it too!

The patterns are also available individually, as a pdf file. I really want to make the doll, Poppy, the little mouse, and the baby shoes. Cute!

It was a nice treat coming home to this. Even though it was the last day before Spring Break today, it was rough. Two teachers were fired today. I don't know why. It was sad. I know of one other teacher in another district who was told she'd not be returning, and someone else close to me has been laid off today. Hard times. I feel sad and yet grateful that I have a job, Eric has a job, and so far, though we struggle, we are okay. It's time to be thankful for the little things. And whimsical things too!

Looks like a great book! I'll have to look at her site! As for bad times, yes some people are really struggling. It's humbling when we realize how fortunate we truly are.
