I Love Knitty Patterns...I Guess

Gosh, I've become somewhat of a sporadic blogger. I think of posts I want to write. I even write them all out in my head. But then, there's always something else to do, I get lazy, and say to myself, "Meh, it was not all that important anyway..."

But at least now I have some more knitting to show.
I completed another hat.
This one is for Eric's brother. It's the Morgan pattern from Knitty.com.
I used Cascade 220 in Navy blue with 4.0mm needles.

I think it looks rather good on my hunny :P

This hat is not a pattern I recommend for mindless TV knitting. It's not hard, you just have to pay attention to it. And there is a lot of counting. But it's very cleverly constructed and I like how it came together overall.

I also made some Dashing for Eric to match his hat. A cotton/wool blend is not ideal, but it's what I used for the hat, so.... I plan on making another pair once Christmas is over, but in a true wool.
The biggest problem I had with this pattern was I was about 5 yards short. I knit a swatch and was on gauge. I had two balls of the yarn, but I ended up having to order one more ball just to finish. Pretty crappy if you ask me.
But Eric loves them!

I've also been trying to make some mittens for my sister. I started with the Twilight mitts from Interweave, but wasn't liking how it was coming out. I sometimes had to carry across ten stitches and no matter what I did, it was pulling and puckering too much. I then started the Herringbone mittens and those were going nicely when I realized I made an error and misread the chart. Ripped back. Going along fine, following chart...oops forgot to start increases for thumb now. Ripped back. Doing increases for thumb...but made another error a few rows down. Grrrrr. Pulled needles out and quit all together. Maybe I'll make some Endpaper mitts.....If there's time. Fetching will be faster, but I really wanted to give her something with colorwork.

I also started the Abby cowl for my mother in Malabrigo Lace, Emerald. I forgot to take pictures though.

WOW. I just realized how many of these patterns are from Knitty... Huh

(changes title)

Anyways, peace out :P
