After Christmas

I know this is old news, but I was out of town and never got the chance to post about it.

I made my sister some Fetching mitts for Christmas, (inspired by KniftyRed) which she loved. The color was perfect for her.

I could not believe how fast these were to knit. And they used less than one skein!! I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. I have a bunch of single skeins of this stuff for mittens and small colorwork projects.

But what I am really excited about are the earrings I made for her and my mom. These were also fast to make!! I want to make more more more!!

You'll recall that my mom received the Abby cowl in Emerald. She ADORES it and has been wearing it everywhere. I have requests for more...but we shall see. I'm sort of tired of the gift-knitting. I'm finishing up one more scarf for a friend, and I still have the Wicked on the needles, but that'll be it for a while. I hope.

There were also some socks for my brother, who had yet to receive any knitted items from me.

I used Patons Kroy socks and it was surprisingly pleasing to work with. Sturdy and rugged. I want to make some warm mittens for myself with this stuff.

You'll notice that I've using more inexpensive yarns....Time to be a bit more frugal these days. I do still have some lovely Dream in Color, STR, Lorna's Laces, Arucania, and Malabrigo for future projects when I am missing more quality and yummy yarns *sniff*

As far as what I recieved for Christmas.....The only yarn related gift was a digital scale from my brother that I had asked for. (I also asked for some Handmaiden and Arucania but yeah, that never came *sniff* ) It's really nifty and shall be very useful at planning projects with partial skeins. I also can use it to portion food as I've started to diet. I have not looked at myself in a full length mirror in months, but at my mom's I was surprised at just how much weight I had gained over the past year and a half. I knew my clothes were tighter and I had been working out more at the gym, but I wasn't really seriously doing anything about it. Now I am.

Oh and I completely forgot! Eric spoiled me with a new phone! I have a new Blackberry Curve in red!! It's freaking awesome! I can browse the web (Ravelry), get email, get GPS directions, store music and photos! Yowza! The guy at the At&T store said after he saw my old phone that it was like moving from a black and white TV to a HD flat screen :P
I didn't really need a new phone, but I'm very happy to have one!!! It looks like this

Still one more week before school resumes and I go back to work. Lots of knitting time.... Yippie!

I'm not surprised that your family loved the handknits because you make excellent stuff.

Wow, everything looks great! We're going to have to form our own little "knit from the stash" support group.
