Praying Mantis Surprise!

Well, it sure has been a while...

I cam home today to find this little sweetheart Praying Mantis hanging out above my window. She's not exactly little, however. I'd say, she's about 6-7 inches long!! At first, I thought it was a walking stick, since she is so slender and I saw brown on the top of her body, but she's bright green everywhere else.

I love insects. So that made my day.

As far as knitting is concerned, I'm still working on the Avalon hoodie. I have the body done, and have one sleeve about half way. I bought one more skein, so I will be able to make the hood. Yay!

This project is being put on the wayside however, because I cast on for the Lace Ribbon Scarf by Veronik Avery. I'm knitting this in Malabrigo Lace. It's not too gauge, but I don't think it matters too much for a scarf. This is for Margaret for her birthday. I also bought some other lace to make some more scarves for me!!

I'm waiting for a yarn shipment so I can make some socks for my dad. My mom called and asked me to do this for him. She's visiting in a few weeks! YAY!!

I also have one other surprise coming in the mail.....

Praying mantisses are like a plague this year. I can't believe how many of them I've had to chase out of my garage. They're cool, but I don't want them as roommates!

The lace scarf is very pretty.
