Mists of Avalon

I love this sweater. I love that it's supposed to hint towards a time of King Arthur; that it's Elvish, romantic and elegant, and it's a hoodie!!
I love the shimmery shine of the yarn and the pattern stitches that enhance it. I love the buttons on the sleeves and the asymmetrical collar.

I could not afford the recommended yarn, but I wanted something similar, something silky and soft with great drape and the same misty grey purplish variegated shades. Luckily for me, I found the Malabrigo Silky Merino at such a great price. And the perfect shade. Because of the fire, I could only get my hands on 8 skeins, and the size I'm making requires 9. I had considered making the smaller size, and after looking at the Knitting Daily galleries, it seemed like I could get away with it, since my bust is 35 inches. But I don't want it to betoo fitted, and I want to be able to wear something underneath it, AND I like the way it looks on the model, all drapey and cozy. So I'm making the size 38. I measured a sweater with the same measurements, and it fits nicely without being too baggy, so I hope it all works out.
Anyway, since the larger size needs one more skein, I probably won't be making the hood on this baby, and will end up with a wide collar instead. Unless I can scrounge up another skein somewhere. I can't buy it now though until I can get paid again.

Avalon swatch

I knit my swatch, and washed it, which means I really am taking this seriously since I rarely wash my swatches. After the wash, my gauge was spot on exact! And it has the exact flow and drape I want. I also practiced the cast on I'm going to use, the Tubular cast on. I was encouraged by brooklyntweed's results for the Sprial Yoke pullover, and I want this sweater to look as professional as is within my skills to do so.

I also finished and blocked my nightie. It took longer than I had hoped, but I still finished it before Eric and I leave for Michigan on Monday. It feels so sexy and luxurious with the bamboo yarn, and the soft steel grey color. It was too short, and I also didn't plan for the extra width of my hips, so I added a lace panel, as I saw someone do on Ravelry. I found two lace charts in Victorian Lace Today that I liked, and used one to add the hip increases, and the other for a noncurling, knitted on border. The last one took a long time, but it's done, is just the right flirty length and fits nicely. Can't wait to show it off ;)

Looking good. I love that hoodie. Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

I just did some swatching on the February Lady Sweater and was hemming and hawing on the washing of the swatch. In the end, I didn't, but now I feel like I really should, huh? Did it change a lot? I always notice a difference in my sweaters and am thinking I should really bit the bullet. (Unless, of course, you didn't see much difference? *fingers crossed*)
