My Events: Sock Put and Hat Dash
Team Chicago

I cast on and knit just past the turned heel of my Monkeys socks. Yarn: Claudia Handpainted.

I cast on and knit up to Row 4 of the Windmill Beret.

I focused more on the socks since I knew those would take me longer to knit. Already I have beat my own personal record. Normally it takes me a week to a couple of weeks to turn a heel. I work on socks sporadically. That is why I thought this would be a good challenge for me. I set a goal to finish two pairs, thinking I'd probably barely knit one. But now, it seems possible. Go me!

Yes, I know there is an awful lot of pooling. I don't know what to do about it. I'm not going to frog it, not now anyway. Part of me likes it though. It looks neat.

As for the hat, looking back, I probably should have challenged myself by choosing a pattern that I have not already knit. I didn't really think about it before, but after looking at all the Ravelry threads, I realize that some may think I'm "cheating." I didn't mean to. There are no other hat patterns I'm really interested in making right now. I was planning on knitting another one of these hats anyway, so I thought, "Why not save it for the Ravelympics?" Oh well.

Anyone watch the Opening Ceremonies? I have chills. It was really amazing to watch! I was really impressed. The performers were so spot on and so disciplined!! How did they do that??? I know it cost a lot of money too. WOW!

Hey there teammate! Keep up the great work. I know I took the simple route and chose a project that is super simple and will most likely be done in a week.

I love how socks give you little surprises like that. That's what makes them unique.

That hat is an ambitious project, perfectly worthy of Olympic knitting. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't knit it!
